Review: Purchased in 2003, this camera has performed extremely well in all but low light conditions. The 20X zoom is great, though you will need to use a GOOD tripod.
I have mixed video taken with the GL2 with shots from studio cameras and even HD, and have been VERY happy with the GL2 images as long as you have good lighting. It's a great little camera!
Pros: Broadcast quality image, strong zoom, decent sound, easy to operate. Size, & price.
Cons: Auto shutoff is annoying at times.

Review: I have two of these cameras. I use them on a professional basis and although they have great quality, they are easily breakable. Both of mine had major problems in the first year, and I found Canon unwilling to work with me on the price of repair. If you do not plan to use this every day as I do, it would probably be a good investment. Just be aware of the expense if it breaks.
Pros: great picture qualityease of use
Cons: easily breaksexpensive to fixlack of care and support from Canon

Review: Panasonic's new camcorder will have to be something special to beat the GL1/XM2. Image quality second to none at this price.
Pros: Incredible Lens, Frame Mode (30fps), Image Quality, Incredible Microphone, Level Meters
Cons: 8mb memory card a little too small Not for the average user. No stop frame function
